Haus auf Stelzen

Wie lässt sich ein Haus möglichst minimalinvasiv in eine Landschaft setzen? Wir untersuchen Stelzenhäuser und ihre Strategien im Umgang mit Topografie, Boden und Klima. Wie verhält sich der Körper dieser Häuser zum Boden? Wie reagiert die Konstruktion – von Dach und Gebäudehülle bis zum Fundament – auf Umwelteinflüsse wie Starkregen, Hochwasser sowie Luft- und Erdfeuchtigkeit?

Über das gemeinsame Erstellen eines Bauteilkatalogs und eines Katalogs typologischer Referenzen nähern wir uns dem Entwurf und der Konstruktion einer Atelier-Unterkunft auf Stelzen an, die auf die Bedingungen des jeweiligen Ortes reagiert: im alpinen Gelände, am Fluss, am See oder am Hügel – in der Steiermark.

How can a house be integrated into a landscape with as little impact as possible? We examine stilt houses and their strategies for engaging with topography, ground, and climate. How does the body of these houses relate to the ground? How does the construction—from roof and building envelope to foundation—respond to environmental influences such as heavy rainfall, flooding, and air and ground moisture?

By collaboratively creating a catalog of building components and a catalog of typological references, we approach the design and construction of a studio shelter on stilts that responds to the conditions of its respective site: in alpine terrain, by a river, by a lake, or on a hillside—in Styria.
